Own a unique piece of historical significance with this set of 7 Brass Military Buttons from The Royal Regiment of Artillery, pre-1954, in very good condition. Each button features a distinctive design - a wheeled cannon set on grass topped with a crown representing a legacy of military excellence. These 24mm 'Large' size buttons, suitable for tunic, greatcoat, and officer attire, bear the regular artillerymen pattern used between 1901 and 1953.
Crafted in brass for soldiers, bronze, and gilt with an elevated wheel for officers, these buttons reflect the esteemed tradition of the Royal Artillery. The absence of a maker's mark suggests a probable origin from the WWII period, adding to their historical value.
Please take a look at the photos to evaluate the condition for yourself.
The buttons feature the crown of King George, indicating that the latest possible date for these items is prior to 1953, when Queen Elizabeth II began her reign. After 1953, the badge features the Queen's crown. For the earliest possible date, I rely on the expertise of Mike from the British & Commonwealth Military Insignia Database, who dates this pattern between 1901 and 1952. Therefore, it can be concluded that this set of buttons dates between 1901 and 1953.
The website of the British Royal Artillery includes the badge in its logo, further proving the authenticity of these buttons.
